The essentials

What is Predispute?

Predispute is the chargeback intelligence enterprise fraud teams run every day, made for Shopify and Stripe stores. It watches your estimated dispute ratio against the Visa and Mastercard thresholds, gives every dispute a fight, refund, or accept verdict tuned by reason code and bank, flags friendly-fraud orders before they become disputes, and counts the recovered dollars on screen. It is built by Andamento, a payments and fraud strategy consultancy that has run dispute operations for global enterprises for decades.

How does it install?

From the Shopify App Store or the Stripe Marketplace, with read access to your orders and disputes and nothing else to configure. The first estimated ratio appears within minutes of connecting, and verdicts begin with your next dispute.

What does it cost?

Monitor is free. Resolve is $199 a month and adds the dispute verdicts with Recovered Dollars counted on screen; Defend is $499 and adds fraud flags plus win-rate strategy by reason code and bank. Annual billing is 3 months free, which brings Resolve to $150 a month and Defend to $375. There are no per-dispute charges and no percentage of recoveries anywhere in the product. See full pricing.

Accuracy and coverage

Is the dispute ratio the same number my bank uses?

No, and every screen that shows the number says so. Merchants cannot see the fraud reports banks file, so the official program figures exist only on the network’s side. Predispute models the ratio from your own order and dispute data instead, documents the method, and labels the result an estimate. The estimate exists to give you warning: your distance from Visa’s 1.5% excessive threshold, updated daily, while there is still time to act.

Does Predispute submit disputes for me?

Only with your approval, and it depends on the platform. On Stripe, Predispute assembles the evidence and, once you approve the verdict, submits the response in one step. Shopify does not let apps submit a response directly, so there Predispute stages your approved evidence as a Ready-to-submit packet and it is filed through Shopify’s own dispute flow. On either platform, nothing is staged or sent until you approve the verdict.

How well does fraud detection work on day one?

The flags are useful from the first week, and the scoring sharpens as your data grows. It reads signals already in your store, such as order and customer history, address and card checks that passed anyway, product type, and delivery status. What improves with time is the pattern layer on top, which learns from how your own disputes actually resolve.

Billing and control

Do you take a percentage of what I recover?

No. The fee is the same whether Predispute recovers $200 or $20,000 in a month. A vendor paid by the clawback profits most in your worst months, and that is the arrangement Predispute was priced to avoid: the flat fee keeps the verdicts clean, and Recovered Dollars on screen show what the subscription earned.

Can I cancel whenever I want?

Yes, from your Shopify or Stripe billing settings, at any time. Monthly plans stop at the end of the current month, and annual plans run to the end of their term. There are no exit fees and nothing to remove beyond the app itself.
